Hey guys. Another great podcast, but TOO SHORT.

Have to agree on most of your points about non-Cuban cigars except you didn’t mention the enormous effect on the industry because of the embargo. Many of these non-Cuban brands were founded by ex-Cubans, with Cuban seed and Cuban methods. And because of the demand from the US, and international competition, I think they’ve come leaps and bounds since the 60s. That said, I have yet to smoke a non-Cuban that rivals a habano, but that’s partially because it can be so hard to find variety of non-Cubans here in Canada.

My hope is that post-embargo, all these companies, both Cuban and non-Cuban, will work together to produce even better cigars, because sometimes I fear that the Cuban cigar industry, like Cuba itself, it trapped in amber and hasn’t really updated itself in many years. This does mean that, yes, tradition is kept alive, but there have been advances in blending, processing and pest control that I fear haven’t reached Cuba.

Anyway, please keep the podcasts coming. I’ve love to hear a regular review feature: I’m curious to know your views on the newly re-released Bolivar Gold Metal!
